El ministro de Salud porteño, Fernán Quirós, le pidió a su par nacional, Carla Vizzotti, acelerar la aplicación de las segundas dosis de la vacuna Sputnik para evitar el avance de las nuevas variantes del coronavirus.
“En base a estas nuevas cepas que están circulando en algunos países, especialmente la cepa de la india, vamos a tener que avanzar en las próximas semanas de manera más acelerada con las segundas dosis, así que iremos poniendo foco en eso también”, sostuvo el funcionario porteño durante una conferencia de prensa.
“Hay gente en la Ciudad que en estos días cumple su tercer mes de vacunación y está angustiada, pendiente de cuándo la vamos a vacunar”, explicó Quirós, que adelantó que el jueves de la semana que viene habría un vuelo a Moscú en busca de vacunas y espera que traiga segundas dosis.
La demora en la llegada del componente 2 de la vacuna rusa se está convirtiendo en un problema muy serio para el Gobierno nacional, habida cuenta de que hay cientos de miles de personas en todo el país que ya cumplieron o están cerca de cumplir el intervalo de 90 días entre la aplicación de las dosis.
Como reveló LPO, la producción del segundo componente (que es muy inestable y complejo para regularizar la producción) está teniendo serios problemas en Rusia y esta semana el Instituto Gamaleya le informó a Argentina que debió descartar otro lote. Vizzotti había prometido un viaje para estos días en busca de segundas dosis, pero no se hizo.
Tal es la preocupación sobre esto que algunos expertos están sugiriendo a Vizzotti considerar la aplicación de la vacuna del laboratorio chino CanSino en lugar de la segunda dosis de Sputnik. Esa vacuna monodosis (llamada Convidecia) utiliza como plataforma un vector viral, llamado adenovirus 5, igual componente dos de la rusa.
El gobierno adoptó meses atrás la estrategia de diferir de segundas dosis para acelerar lo máximo posible la campaña de vacunación con al menos una dosis. En general los expertos consideraban que las vacunas daban una protección bastante alta con una dosis, pero la aparición de nuevas cepas complicó el panorama. Los nuevos estudios indican que la protección se mantiene en un buen nivel sólo con dos dosis.
