Cuando parecía que todo se trataba de una formalidad y sólo restaban detalles para firmar un nuevo vínculo, Lionel Messi ya no seguirá en Barcelona. Así de impactante. El mejor jugador del mundo tendrá que abandonar el club al que llegó cuando tenía 12 años por las normas económicas que le exige la Liga española al club, de acuerdo a lo que aseguró el propio Barcelona en el comunicado oficial en el que confirmó la noticia. Según destacó el club, el acuerdo con Messi estaba sellado.
La noticia que ni el más pesimista de los hinchas catalanes quería escuchar llegó a través de un comunicado oficial que publicó el Barcelona en su página web. “A pesar de haberse llegado a un acuerdo entre el FC Barcelona y Leo Messi y con la clara intención de ambas partes de firmar un nuevo contrato en el día de hoy, no se podrá formalizar debido a obstáculos económicos y estructurales (normativa de LaLiga española)”, informó el club de manera oficial.
La noticia impactó por lo sorprendente. Los diarios españoles estaban informando que la firma del nuevo contrato era inminente y especulaban con que Messi se iba a sumar el domingo a las prácticas, después de sus vacaciones tras haber ganado la Copa América con la Selección Argentina. El vínculo acordado entre Messi y el Barcelona era por cinco temporadas, con una rebaja del 50 por ciento en su sueldo y un acuerdo para que los últimos tres años los dispute en Estados Unidos, ya como embajador del club.
Sin embargo, la situación económica del Barcelona y, sobre todo, la presión que ejerció la Liga española para que el club catalán cumpliera con las reglas financieras impidieron ese vínculo sellado de palabra. El presidente de LaLiga, Víctor Tebas, ya había anticipado que el Barcelona debía “respetar en todo momento” el limite salarial que existe en la competición. “A no ser que haya una importante rebaja salarial en el plantel no habrá excepción para que el Barcelona pueda inscribir a Messi”, había amenazado Tebas, algo que ahora parece concretarse.
Messi desarrolló toda su carrera como profesional en el Barcelona, equipo en el que brilla desde hace 16 temporadas y donde ganó todos los títulos posibles, entre ellos cuatro Champions League y diez Ligas de España. El año pasado, había amenzado con irse tras un enfrentamiento con la dirigencia que encabezaba Josep Maria Bartomeu, pero finalmente completó su vínculo, que se terminó en junio. Desde entonces, permanecía como jugador libre, pero su buen trato con el actual presidente, Joan Laporta, hacía suponer que el astro iba a continuar en el Barcelona, sobre todo porque iba a aceptar una rebaja salarial del 50 por ciento.

Con la partida de Messi del Barcelona, las posibilidades para su futuro no son muchas, ya que no hay demasiados equipos en condiciones de afrontar el fichaje del astro argentino.
