Con la difusión del mail que le enviara el pasado 7 de julio la asesora presidencial Cecilia Nicolini al CEO del Fondo Ruso de Inversión que financia la producción de la vacuna contra el coronavirus Sputnik V, a la que el Gobierno de Alberto Fernández se aferró casi como única opción, quedó al descubierto uno de los problemas más acuciantes para la sociedad argentina: la falta del componente 2 para completar el esquema completo de inmunidad con aquella vacuna.
Se trata nada menos que de más de 6 millones y medio de personas en todo el país. En las últimas semanas cabe reconocer que la campaña de vacunación se aceleró notablemente, mucho más si se la compara con el ritmo cansino con la que arrancó, donde luego de 100 días apenas se había inmunizado al 1,5% de la población.
La misma comenzó el 29 de diciembre de 2020 en el Hospital Posadas. Si bien se intensificó, los números no son muy alentadores: al 22 de julio, la incidencia de personas completamente inmunizadas no supera el 12%. Tampoco la Federación Rusa ha logrado vacunas a una gran cantidad de ciudadanos: sólo el 15% se aplicó el esquema completo.
Desde el inicio de la campaña de inoculación llegaron 39.945.430 vacunas, de las cuales 12.912.000 corresponden a Sinopharm; 9.375.670 del componente 1 de Sputnik V y apenas 2.493.160 del componente 2; 9.140.600 a las de AstraZeneca y Oxford; 3.500.000 a Moderna; 1.944.000 a AstraZeneca por el mecanismo COVAX de la OMS y 580.000 a AstraZeneca-Covishield. Es decir que el inoculante ruso representa casi el 30% del total recibido por el país entre ambos componentes. De esos 30 puntos, nada menos que 25% corresponden al primero.
Pero las cifras continúan siendo extrañas. De las casi 40 millones de dosis arribadas, se distribuyeron poco más de 35 millones, de los cuales, a su vez, se aplicaron apenas 29.3 millones: 23.437.015 personas fueron vacunas con 1 dosis y 5.925.881 con ambas, de acuerdo al Monitor Público de Vacunación.
En la carta de Nicolini, la funcionaria reconoce que la falta de vacunas es desesperante para el Gobierno y que no hay plan B: “Seguimos esperando una cantidad mínima del componente 2 para completar los tratamientos al menos de las personas con más de 90 días de intervalo mínimo… Según el contrato, aún quedan 18.734.185 dosis (5,5 M C1 + 13,1 M C2)”.
En Mar del Plata, la situación también es alarmante. Desde el 29 de diciembre de 2020, según datos oficiales, se han vacunado 341.946 personas, de las cuales apenas 90.729 ya completaron el esquema de inmunidad. De aquel total, 144.750 marplatenses fueron inoculados con el componente 1 de Sputnik V, y sólo 39.565 recibieron el segundo. Es decir que en la ciudad hay más de 105.000 personas parcialmente inmunizadas, y que a la luz de los hechos, no saben cuándo y cómo podrán completar su protección. Y para peor, a muchos de ellos ya se les vencieron los 90 días que se estima que duran los efectos de la primera dosis.
Además de la rusa, han llegado desde fines del año pasado más de 164.000 dosis de la china Sinopharm y 138.300 de Astrazeneca, en sus diferentes versiones. La mayoría de los medios locales opta por destacar que Mar del Plata está por alcanzar el medio millón de vacunas arribadas. Pero nada se dice sobre las más de 100.000 personas que aún esperan el imprescindible y esquivo segundo componente de la Sputnik V.
