Un joven de 26 años que llegó de Estados Unidos se contagió con la variante Delta del coronavirus, según se pudo comprobar después de un testeo realizado en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Ezeiza.
Así lo informó el Ministerio de Salud de la Nación luego de recibir el resultado del análisis realizado por el el Laboratorio Nacional de Referencia ANLIS-Malbrán, en la que se detectó que el joven se había contagiado con la cepa de Covid-19 identificada originariamente en la India.
Arribó al país el 4 de junio pasado procedente de Estados Unidos y al momento del llegar presentó un testeo por PCR realizado 48 antes de emprender el viaje.
No obstante, al ingresar al país, se lo sometió, al igual que al resto de los pasajeros, a un nuevo testeo por antígenos, que dio resultado positivo de coronavirus.
Mientras la muestra fue derivada al laboratorio de referencia para el análisis genómico, el pasajero fue llevado a un hotel porteño, donde cumplió aislamiento de diez días.
Proximidad
En tanto, una persona que viajaba con el joven fue aislada en su domicilio, mientras que fue sometida a dos testeos, ambos con resultado negativo.
La variante Delta (B.1.617.2), considerada de alta contagiosidad aunque aparentemente productora de menos casos graves, fue detectada en el país el pasado 10 de mayo en dos menores que regresaban a la Argentina junto a sus padres, en un vuelo procedente de París, Francia.
Según el Ministerio de Salud, “la variante Delta, identificada originariamente en India, es una de las preocupantes, que se encuentran bajo vigilancia por las autoridades sanitarias nacionales”.
A la variante Delta se le adjudican el repunte de casos en diversos lugares del mundo como la India, África y el Reino Unido, donde se la encuentra en 96 por por ciento de los nuevos casos detectados.
La cepa, que apareció por primera vez en la India en octubre de 2020, ya tiene presencia hasta el momento en, al menos, 80 países, según la Organización Mundial para la Salud (OMS).
