La Municipalidad, a través de la Subsecretaría de Gobierno Digital, avanza en la ejecución del plan Conexión MGP que tiene por objetivo brindar internet vía WiFi de manera gratuita en 40 espacios públicos del Partido de General Pueyrredon.
Desde la Municipalidad se informó que en la primera quincena de julio, unos 10 mil vecinos se conectaron a las redes de wifi gratuitas dispuestas en la ciudad. Por otro lado, se estima que antes de fin de año se habrán superado las 100.000 conexiones
La red de fibra óptica, que propone unir dentro del anillo de fibra óptica municipal a todos los centros operativos de la comuna, tiene unos 330 kilómetros de extensión aproximada. Gracias al avance de convenios con cooperativas y empresas que prestan conectividad en barrios periféricos, se han incorporado más de 250 kilómetros, por lo que antes de fin de año se proyecta una red activa con una amplitud cercana a los 600 kilómetros.
El plan Conexión MGP tiene como propósito implementar 40 puntos de conectividad libre en el partido de General Pueyrredon. A la fecha, son 12 los puntos operativos, por lo que se ha logrado alcanzar el 25 % de lo proyectado en esta etapa.
Los puntos de conexión se encuentran en la actualidad ubicados en la zona de Parque Primavesi y Plaza Mitre, Villa Evita, Colinas de Peralta Ramos, Juramento y Hernandarias, Juan B. Justo e Yrigoyen, San Martín y Chile, México y Juan B. Justo, La Plazoleta Borges, Sierra de los Padres y los Polideportivos de Libertad y Las Heras.
